• Discuss a variety of case studies and the ROI gained from the use of RFID technology.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has made some very large strides over the past year as a standard that started primarily as a mandate from both retail and the Department of Defense (DoD) that has now moved into real world efficiencies in the supply chain. We will discuss the various opportunities revolving around passive and active tags monitoring both logistics and the real time location of the assets that make a fundamental difference to your business. This session should identify several key initiatives to help define if RFID is right for you.

State of the Art Processes in Reverse Logistics
David Vehec, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Solutions - GENCO
• Learn the basics of an integrated Reverse Logistics System (Returns Management) including the most advanced IT systems, handling methods and accounting systems for optimum asset recovery and customer service.
• David will review examples that demonstrate the Reverse Supply Chain from Customer Service, transportation management, distribution and plant handling, product classification and asset recovery.
Genco manages over 37.0 million square feet in 125+ operations throughout U.S. and Canada. Reverse logistics is the process of moving returned, overstocked, and seasonal goods back through the supply chain for disposition to capture value otherwise unavailable, or to facilitate proper disposal. The presentation will review the critical elements including processing, recycling and packaging, reconditioning and repair, disposal of obsolete and hazardous materials, and the reporting of decision support information. The support structure including WMS, TMS and RMS(returns management) systems will be outlined as well as the costs and benefits of using a third party vs. in house management.

Completing process mapping prior to implementing change also provides for areas, including Warehouse Management System selection. budget development, implementation and final designs. Also reviewed will be how other systems (e.g. Material Handling Systems, Transportation Management Systems, Labor Management Systems,) and technical interface requirements effect process mapping.

How The Western Climate Initiative Will Affect YOU
Karen Rasmussen - President and CEO - Arizona Trucking Association
• Ms. Rasmussen will explain why shippers should be paying close attention to pending greenhouse gas initiatives and to highway funding proposals at the state and federal levels.
• Make no mistake—greenhouse gas regulation AND demand for new highways WILL affect your bottom line and those of the truckers that serve your shipping needs.
Arizona is one of 15 states that have signed on to the Western Climate Initiative, including WCI’s limits on carbon dioxide emissions from transportation fuels. If you think diesel is expensive now, wait until refiners and users have to reduce its CO2 emissions! Couple that with the cost of fuel wasted idling in traffic, a highway trust fund that is close to bankrupt and growing support for financing new transportation projects through tolls and mileage taxes.

Import & Export Compliance: Don't Let It Slow Down Your Supply Chain
Deep SenGupta - Senior Manager, FedEx
• Deep will demonstrate how compliance can result in fewer cages, fewer cargo exams, fewer penalties &  fewer information requests which will ultimately reduce cost to your bottom line.
• He will also show you competitive advantages your company will have in the market place by being compliant.
Deep will discuss the latest developments regarding 10+2 requirements for US Ocean Importers and discuss the increase in penalties US Exporters could face for export violations. He will also address the final ruling the U.S. Census Bureau has issued requiring mandatory filing of export information through the Automated Export System (AES) and the tougher penalty provisions that may be imposed per violation of the FTR. Deep will also briefly discuss the Validated End-User program for China & India which can help your business tap into the two largest emerging markets in the world.
